NYC is a permanent film set.

This collection of photographs document New York in 2010. The work has previously exhibited at 44AD Art Space in 2016 and Boston Tea Party in 2011. 8a Chelsea Road is showing nine of the images from the set of eighteen. The exhibition is organised in association with The Art Cohort, also based on Chelsea Road.

Visiting New York can give you visual indigestion due to its many famous and recognisable sites. There is a sense of deja vu. Am I in a cinematic blockbuster? Everything moves fast; the conveyor belt of people, the flickering advertisements, and shadows from the buildings.

The series captures the subtle observations of ordinary life. Films like Taxi Driver, Do the Right Thing, Manhattan, and Sin City influenced the process.
